At the beginning of November 2023, the new Shanghai Ranking was announced. Only five mathematics faculties from Poland made the list, and only one, ours, from a technical university. We maintained our position in the fourth hundred rated mathematics faculties worldwide. The units are evaluated in 5 categories and in two of them, research output (number of publications in Q1) and international cooperation (publications with foreign co-authors), we are on the first place (above the University of Warsaw, Jagiellonian University, the University of Wrocław, and the Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań). In the category of the number of publications in journals from the first quartile, we took the honourable third position.
It is noteworthy that despite the high competition in the discipline of mathematics in the country, our Faculty is one of four AGH University disciplines that were ranked in the Shanghai Ranking this year. The first place in Poland went to Metallurgical Engineering and Instruments Science &Technology, whereas the second to Physics. Congratulations!
