In the evaluation results published by the Ministry of Education and Science on August 2, 2023, regarding the scientific activity in the period of 2017-2021, the Faculty of Applied Mathematics obtained scientific category A.
Carried out within the disciplines at a given entity, the evaluation’s aim is to assess the quality of scientific activity in Poland. The research achievements are evaluated on a 5-grade scale: from A+ (the best), A, B+, B, to C (the worst). On the category of a unit depend the rights to conduct studies, doctoral schools, award degrees and titles, but also the amount of subsidies, that is, the funds that units receive from the state budget.
Among the 17 evaluated scientific disciplines at the AGH University, mathematics was granted category A status (very good).
